- Overview
o Give a brief synopsis of common problems/issues/concerns/difficulties that people have with your personal finance topic.
o Ask an essential question that you will answer in your conclusion. This question will be the focus of your paper. You will also pose scenarios/predicaments that people face and may require assistance in fixing.

- How and Why (Credit & Debt/Income & Careers etc.)
o Examine how and why people get into "trouble" with their personal finance and the choices to be made regarding your topic.
o Explain the consequences of choices that are made and the impact it will have on your personal finances.
o Use government data from one or all of the following: www.mymoney.gov ,www.ustreas.gov , www.irs.gov I will breifly review how to use these sites. Create additional graphs/charts depicting the national problem. Explain the charts and what they mean.
o Using the commercial websites like www.money.cnn.com, www.moneycentral.msn.com, www.bankrate.com, www.salary.com and personal finance magazines like www.kiplinger.com, www.smartmoney.com, research personal financeo Use their calculators and tools to create scenarios that could assist someone who is facing personal finance dilema.
o Examine what the government, businesses, and local communities have done to educate and combat poverty/financial distress/mortgage crisis, etc.
o Create a survey that coincides with your research (credit & debt) and graph data that reflect your findings.

- Effective Resolutions
o Examine different scenarios (include 2-3 alternative approaches).
o Examine the role of financial instruments to reduce to decrease negative affect on one's personal finance(credit, savings, insurance, etc.)
o Examine what it means to be financially fit with regards to your topic.

- Conclusion
o Referring back to the importance of your research and the data you have collected, answer the essential question posed in your overview.

- Works Cited
o List a minimum of 5 sources and have at least one of the following: book, Internet, online journal, interview. All sources must be listed in Modern Language Association format.
